New in Elicit: A new way to research

We've redesigned the Elicit homepage around a single, powerful idea: the Research Agent is now your primary entry point for all research on Elicit.

Instead of choosing between workflows and tools upfront, you can now just ask a question. The Research Agent will find papers, synthesize evidence, and deliver a comprehensive answer β€” all in one conversation. The Research Agent has the flexibility to search across a broad range of sources (e.g. publications, public filings, press releases) to give you better answers.

Need to dig deeper? Follow up directly with the agent to refine your analysis, explore a subtopic, or take your research in a new direction.

From quick lookups to deep analysis

The Research Agent handles the full spectrum of research questions. Ask a lightweight factual question and get a fast, grounded answer. For complex, multi-faceted questions that require synthesizing across many papers or weighing conflicting evidence, turn on Extended Thinking mode and the agent will conduct a thorough, multi-step analysis across sources.

Extended Thinking for comprehensive analyses

Elicit Plus, Pro and Scale subscribers have access to Extended Thinking mode, where the Research Agent spends more time developing a deeper, more thorough analysis before responding. When your question demands rigor - comparing interventions, mapping a research landscape, or evaluating conflicting evidence - Extended Thinking produces substantially more comprehensive results.

Existing workflows and tools are still accessible

Workflows like Systematic Review and tools like Extract Data are still available. You can access them from the left sidebar or the workflow dropdown next to the input box β€” we've just streamlined the experience.

Why we made this change

We believe the Research Agent will significantly improve how you use Elicit. Research is interactive and comprehensive, not a series of disconnected searches. With this new homepage, you can start with a question, follow the evidence wherever it leads, and build up a complete picture β€” all in one place and with the same confidence and comprehensiveness you already expect from Elicit.

Try it out from your Elicit homepage. We'd love to hear what you think.
